Duel composition: the NordBastion polar-bear mascot with the cyan-N shield facing a hooded alchemist-mycologist in matte-black robes with an hourglass of green spores and a Tor-onion glyph shield, cyan aurora and matrix-green spore energy clashing at the centre

NordBastion vs SporeStack.
Accountless ephemerals, or four-bastion accounts.

Both refuse identity. One refuses even the email — token-only, API-first, Tor and I2P native; the other runs accounts on four Nordic constitutional bastions. Here is what differs, factually.

Where each one wins

Three honest axes. Pick the one that matters to you.

Anonymity ceiling

SporeStack does not need an email.

Token-based, accountless signup, native Tor and I2P. If the highest ceiling on operational anonymity is your priority, SporeStack sets that ceiling higher than NordBastion does today.

Automation / API

SporeStack is API-first by design.

The whole platform is operated by API and a Python CLI. NordBastion is panel-first today; the API for the panel is on the roadmap but not yet shipped.

Owned Nordic infrastructure

NordBastion runs the metal.

SporeStack brokers across Vultr, DigitalOcean and its own EU fleet — your jurisdiction depends on which upstream you pick. NordBastion answers for owned infrastructure on every server, all four locations Nordic constitutional press-freedom regimes.

Verdict

Two different ceilings on the same wall, aimed at different threat models.

SporeStack is one of the most operationally anonymous VPS products on the market — no email, Tor and I2P natively, Monero as the recommended currency, the whole thing operable from a Python CLI without ever opening a browser. For customers whose primary threat model assumes their email is already a leak, SporeStack closes that hole at the front door.

NordBastion answers a different question: not "how do I run anonymously" but "where does the metal physically sit and under what law does it answer." Four Nordic bastions on owned infrastructure, twelve cryptocurrencies, twelve constitutional press-freedom protections (three per bastion on average), and a fully-automated dedicated bare-metal path that SporeStack does not offer.

Pick SporeStack if accountless Tor/I2P signup and API-first ephemerality are your hard requirements. Pick NordBastion if owned Nordic constitutional infrastructure and bare-metal scale are.

FAQ · Comparison

Comparison questions, answered.

The questions visitors actually ask when choosing between SporeStack and NordBastion.

What is SporeStack?

SporeStack is a KYC-free, crypto-paid VPS provider operating since 2017. Their distinctive product model is accountless — there is no email signup; instead a token is generated that holds the customer's balance, and the platform is operated through an API and a Python CLI rather than a web dashboard. The site is reachable over both Tor and I2P, and Monero is the privacy-recommended payment.

Is SporeStack more anonymous than NordBastion at signup?

At the front door, yes. SporeStack does not require an email address — a token is sufficient. NordBastion requires an email and a password to open a panel account. Both hosts refuse identity documents, phone numbers, legal names and proof of address; the difference is that SporeStack also refuses the email.

Does NordBastion publish a Tor onion service or I2P eepsite?

Not at present. The clearnet site is Tor-friendly with no special-case rate limits or anti-Tor measures, but there is no v3 onion mirror or I2P endpoint today. A Tor onion is on the panel roadmap; the comparison stays honest until it ships. SporeStack publishes both today.

Which one is API-first?

SporeStack. The whole platform is designed to be driven by the SporeStack API and its Python library — the CLI is the primary interface. NordBastion has a control-panel-first UX today; an API for the panel is on the roadmap but not yet shipped.

Does SporeStack own its servers?

Partially. SporeStack offers servers on its own SporeStack-EU infrastructure (Amsterdam, Frankfurt) and also brokers servers on third-party clouds including Vultr and DigitalOcean. The customer chooses the underlying provider at order time. NordBastion runs only its own four Nordic bastions and answers for the full stack on every server.

Which one accepts more cryptocurrencies?

NordBastion accepts twelve cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Monero, Ethereum, Litecoin, USDT and USDC. SporeStack accepts Monero, Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash, and recommends Monero specifically for maximum privacy.

Which one offers dedicated bare-metal servers?

NordBastion does — five tiers from $99/month to $1,099/month, fully automated and provisioned in about 30 minutes. SporeStack focuses on ephemeral VPS-style servers; bare-metal dedicated is not their product.

Who should pick which?

Pick SporeStack if your priority is accountless signup with no email at all, native Tor / I2P reachability, an API-first CLI workflow, and Monero as a first-class payment. Pick NordBastion if you want four Nordic constitutional-jurisdiction bastions on owned infrastructure, twelve cryptocurrencies, and a fully-automated path to dedicated bare-metal.
